The units of data found in the data warehouse - the records - are very granular.
The granular data found in the EDW can be reshaped to appear differently on a moments notice. At one moment the data looks like accounting data. The next moment the data looks like marketing's data. The next moment the data appears to be sales data, and so forth. The extreme granularity of the data and the fact that the granular data is integrated allows the EDW data to be easily reshaped. The reshaping gives the EDW data great flexibility.
